Empower your staff. Allow them to share in the financial gains when they bring in new customers.

James Carville, a political strategist, once said to his campaign staff the following: "Outside of a person's love, the most sacred thing that they can give is their labor, and somehow or another along the way, we tend to forget that…anytime if you can combine labor with love, you've made a merger."

Your staff members have made a conscious effort to dedicate their labor to you. Imagine how much more energized they would feel, and how much more they would love their work, if they could share in the continued financial success of your business?

More often than not, your employees are your regular customers. Why not let them participate as Regulars in attracting new customers to the store? Maybe they can receive special offers (versus other regular customers) to transfer to their friends, family, and colleagues, and then share a percentage of new sales at the end of each month. You may decide to share a % with all your staff, or have them compete for top earnings.

Work can get boring. Give your staff members a way to feel economically empowered, with a vested interest in the success of your business. The more work they do to help bring in more customers, the more they will share in the growth. And you'll boost your sales. It's a win-win.
